Programme description

Molecular Biology is the study of biological processes at the most fundamental level, the molecular level. It focuses on understanding how molecules such as DNA, RNA, and proteins interact to regulate vital processes including cell function, gene expression, and inheritance. Biotechnology, in turn, applies biological processes and techniques often derived from Molecular Biology to develop useful products and technologies from living organisms or their components. Examples include the production of insulin using genetically engineered bacteria and the development of genetically modified crops with improved yield, resistance, or nutritional value. This program is highly relevant to modern scientific and industrial needs, as it equips students with a strong foundation in biological sciences down to the molecular level. It integrates both theoretical knowledge and hands on practical training in key disciplines such as Microbiology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology, and Bioinformatics, the application of computational tools and mathematical approaches to analyze and interpret biological data, particularly DNA, RNA, and protein sequences. By combining molecular understanding with technological application, the program prepares graduates to contribute effectively to healthcare, agriculture, environmental management, research, and the growing biotechnology and bioinformatics industries.
