Programme description

Biotechnology involves the application of biological systems, living organisms, or their derivatives to develop and improve products and processes for agricultural, medical, industrial, and environmental use. Bioinformatics complements this field by integrating life sciences with computer science to design computational tools and analytical methods for managing and interpreting large scale biomolecular data. It draws upon computing, mathematics, statistics, and molecular biology to transform complex biological information into meaningful insights. This interdisciplinary program is designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge in both biotechnology and bioinformatics, alongside a critical understanding of their core theories, principles, and emerging innovations. Through practical laboratory training and computational analysis, graduates develop the ability to generate, manage, evaluate, and interpret biomolecular data such as DNA and RNA sequences, gene expression profiles, and genomic datasets. With rapid advancements in sequencing technologies and molecular research, there has been an exponential growth in biomolecular data worldwide. However, the availability of skilled professionals capable of analyzing and translating these data into practical solutions remains limited. This program directly addresses that gap by training competent graduates who can contribute to research, healthcare, agriculture, environmental management, and biotechnology industries.
