BSc. BEE KEEPING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

BSc. Beekeeping Science and technology provides students with comprehensive knowledge of the science and technology behind beekeeping and honey bee management, with strong emphasis on honey bee biology, ecology, behavior, and colony health. It equips students with practical skills in hive management, disease control, and the processing and quality assurance of bee products such as honey, beeswax, propolis, and royal jelly. The program also explores the commercial, policy, and regulatory frameworks that guide modern apiculture (beekeeping). The program is highly relevant to sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and rural economic development. Honey bees play a critical role in crop pollination, biodiversity conservation, and food security. By integrating scientific knowledge with entrepreneurship and value addition, the program prepares graduates to contribute to sustainable livelihoods, agribusiness development, and environmental sustainability. Graduates are well prepared to work professionally in commercial apiaries (bee farms), agro-food industries, extension and community outreach services, environmental organizations, and agribusiness ventures, or to establish and manage their own beekeeping enterprises.
