Programme description
The Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a practical, industry focused program that explores the entire digital ecosystem. It equips students with the skills to build, manage, and integrate the technologies that drive modern communication from computer systems and software applications to networks and cloud services. A key distinction between ICT and traditional Information Technology (IT) lies in their breadth. IT mainly focuses on managing the internal technological infrastructure of an organization such as computers, servers, and software, ICT extends far beyond this. It encompasses all of IT but also includes the communication systems that connect people and devices, including mobile networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud based platforms. In simple terms, IT is like managing the vehicles and warehouses that store and process data, whereas ICT is responsible for designing and maintaining the entire highway system, traffic signals, and GPS networks that allow data to move seamlessly across the world. The program combines strong technical foundations such as programming, networking, and systems administration with essential business competencies including project management and entrepreneurship. This blend ensures graduates are well prepared to address real world challenges and lead technology initiatives across a wide range of industries.
